My Hometown
Wattala
Wattala is my Hometown and I am deeply in love with my hometown. I grew up in this area since I was born. It is a large suburb of Colombo city, in Western Province, situated around 9 km from Colombo city centre. Around Wattala, there are many villages and towns, such as Kerawalapitiya, Hendala, Hunupitiya, Bopitiya, Elakanda and etc.
There are many Churches, Buddhist temples, Hindu temples, Mosques are spread throughout the area. Though it is a majority Roman Catholic area, people of many faiths live here in peaceful.
Wattala has a combination of Government and International schools, such as Lyceum International School, O.K.I, Good Shepherd Convent, St Anthony’s College and St Anne’s Convent within a short distance away. Kelaniya university, one of the prominent universities in the country and the Ragama medical faculty are also located here.
There are supermarkets like food city, keels, arpico super center in the area.
Popular international brands such as KFC, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Dinemore and McDonalds are now available in Wattala.
As mentioned above, there are many facilities in my town. As far as the environment is concerned, there are many possibilities of environmental pollution. Because there are more vehicles, more factories and fewer trees. But I can say that my city is a great city in terms of facilities. I love my Hometown.
